Mind the Gap(s)!
Apr 27, 2018
One of the secret benefits of developing your personal brand is that it points out gaps you may have in skills or experience. This isn’t a bad thing! The sooner you’re aware of what’s holding you back, the sooner you can take steps to fix it.
“What’s holding you back from reaching your goals?”
Take a look at your strengths and where you want to go. Now, think about what your gaps could be - aka what’s holding you back from reaching your goals? This could be something technical in your industry or a soft skill like confidence.
Here are some of my favourite ways to “mind the gap:”
Social Media Breakfast is a great place to connect with other local entrepreneurs and marketers. Need to learn about social media, look no further! twitter.com/smbyyc
New on the scene are workshops hosted by The Social School. The school has a stacked line up of monthly workshops on things like mobile photography and newsletters. If you’ve realized these are gaps in skills, I would highly recommend checking them out.
A little known secret here in Calgary is the resources your Calgary Public Library card connects you to. Your membership grants access to the video training on Lynda.com where you can learn C++, SEO, Excel and lots more! There are also instructor led courses like Accounting Fundamentals and Database Management through the Library and Gale Learning.
If you’re local to #YYC, #YEG or #YQL:
ATB Entrepreneur Centres hosts regular, free sessions with local experts. Take a look at their website to check out the topics and see who’s presenting: https://atbentrepreneurcentre.com/events/?utm_source=atbcom&utm_medium=ec-page
